President Obama writes back to girl, 10, with 2 dads, who asks if 'kids at school teased you about it, what would you do?'
Sophia Bailey Klugh asked, and Obama answered that Americans 'recognize that whether you have two dads or one mom what matters above all is the love we show one another.'

A ten-year-old California girl who looked to President Obama for guidance when she was teased about her two dads got some personal advice straight from the Oval Office.
"Thank you for writing me such a thoughtful letter about your family. Reading it made me proud to be your President and even more hopeful about the future of our nation," Obama said.
Sophia Bailey Klugh had previously written Obama to invite him for dinner, but she had more weighty concerns on her mind in her second missive.
"Dear Barack Obama," she said. "It's Sophia Bailey Klugh your friend who invited you to dinner. You don't remember okay that's fine. But I just wanted to tell you that I am so glad you agree that two men can love each other because I have two dads and they love each other.”
She went on to ask for his advice about how to respond to kids at school who think her fathers’ relationship is “gross and weird.”
“If you were me and you had two dads that loved each other, and kids at school teased you about it, what would you do?”
She concluded by saying that she hopes Obama “win(s) on being the President” and asking him to say hello to his two daughters. She also drew a photo of her two fathers kissing with the word “love” between them.
In an Oct. 28 Facebook post about the letter, her father Jonathan Bailey said her note to the President was “totally unprompted.”
One week later, Bailey had an update: “He wrote back! Thank you Barack Obama – you have made one 10-year-old feel mighty special (and her two dads too).”
In his response, Obama said Americans “recognize that whether you have two dads or one mom what matters above all is the love we show one another.”
He also suggested that Sophia remind her friends about the Golden Rule, saying everyone should “treat others the way you hope they will treat you.”
"You are very fortunate to have two parents who care deeply for you,” he said. “They are lucky to have such an exceptional daughter in you."
“I'm sorry I couldn't make it to dinner, but I'll be sure to tell Sasha and Malia you say hello,” he concluded.
